Agency, Morality and Responsibility:

Revisiting the Question of Man

(Being the Sequel to our essay on : Revisiting the Woman Question)

Underlying the Humanities and Social Sciences today, is an ambivalent view of Man.  The more the ambivalence, the greater the confusion.  This is a topic that will be addressed in a forthcoming essay.  For now however, we would like to address the concept of Man, Insan, from the perspective of an Islamic Worldview.  The following essay is essentially about "remembering man".... in a postmodern world that has seen a sequence of 'ends', starting with the end of history and not stopping at the 'end of man'.... To sum up the gist of the human being we seek to rediscover from a qur'anic reflection scaled against the doldrums of high modernity, we have chosen to highlight a sense and essence by proposing the following title:  Agency, Morality, and Responsibility: An Islamic View of Man.  Please read on!!
