On the 24th June 2002, friends and loved ones gathered to share their thoughts and pay tribute to an icon of benevolence and charity who was known throughout the community she had tutored and mentored as the "Mother of Physicians."   In fact this was an honorary title awarded her by Mrs. Mubarak, Egypt's First Lady, in 1991 (?) - the same year the Elizabeth Norgell Prize was awarded her in Frankfurt, Germany, in honoring the Woman of the Year - marking the European Woman's initiative to go 'global' with its honors, and acknowledge greatness outside the European context.

More on this will follow as we launch our biographic project in the coming months.

The presentation that follows was put together by Dr. Eng. Omar Abul Fadl, in a preliminary format to share at the memorial service.  It previews the life course of two remarkable women,  Fatma and Zahira, both doctors, scientists,  professional and public figures, each in her field, and in her own way.  Fatma Abdin was five years older than Zahira, but passed away nine days after her younger sister.  The last of the Abdin sorority to go, it was as if she had kept her word to her father to be there to look after Zahra till the end...May their memories be honored and their souls ever blessed!
